My current book project is tentatively entitled Not by Virtue Alone: Law, Virtue, and Jewish Thought uses Jewish philosophy to explore how moral rules shape who we are and who we become. It tracks the diverse ways that individuals and communities interact with moral rules and considers how those interactions shape moral subjects. To do this, the book excavates the history of contemporary ethical theory, arguing that the persistent legacy of anti-Judaism has left moral philosophers with two main options for understanding the structure of morality: morality can either be understood primarily in terms of rules and obligation (deontology) or in terms of character development (virtue ethics).

I am also working on a second book project tentatively entitled The Pain of Imagining Others: Infertility and Care in Jewish Thought, explores the unique forms of care performed by those experiencing infertility and pregnancy loss.
